Coventor Announces CoventorWare for Cadence
Cary, North Carolina – February 10, 2003 - Coventor Inc., the leading supplier of MEMS and
Microfluidics design software, today announced a multi-year alliance with Cadence Design
Systems, Inc. to offer comprehensive design tools for developing next generation MEMS (Micro
Electro Mechanical Systems) products and systems.
Coventor and Cadence will offer a software toolset that seamlessly integrates Coventor's
MEMS-specific design libraries and finite & boundary element analysis capabilities with industry
leading mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) design software from Cadence. This will bring
together Coventor's ARCHITECT, ANALYZER, and INTEGRATOR with
Virtuoso® Composer, Spectre®, Spectre® RF, Analog Design Environment, DIVA®
DRC, and DIVA® LVS from Cadence to offer MEMS developers and IC integrators three
software product bundles for simulation, layout, and verification. Coventor will sell the new
bundles through the Coventor worldwide MEMS sales channel under the brand name
CoventorWare for Cadence.
Cadence, the leading worldwide supplier of EDA software, provides in its extensive product line
a front-to-back analog design solution for full-custom analog and RF chip design. Coventor
provides CoventorWare, a comprehensive suite of MEMS-specific design software.
The integrated design flow and software will put full MEMS design capabilities in the hands of
thousands of IC designers who use Cadence EDA tools. The first software solutions are
expected to become broadly available in the middle of 2003. Some key users have already
received a pre-release of select capabilities.
"MEMS are strategic to our customers," said Lavi Lev, Executive Vice President and General
Manager of IC Solutions for Cadence in San Jose, California. "By combining our leading mixed-
signal IC design tools and teaming up with a leader in MEMS design tools, we can deliver even
greater value to our mutual customers. The goal of this alliance is to offer comprehensive
design tools for developing next-generation MEMS products and systems."
"Until recently, the designs of our MEMS devices and the integrated circuits that go around the
MEMS devices were done by separate teams. Now, CoventorWare's integration with Cadence
tools gives our MEMS and IC designers the potential to share design and simulation data
seamlessly," said Michael Judy, MEMS Design and CAD Manager of the Micromachined
Products Division at Analog Devices. "This will speed up our development effort and will have a
positive impact on productivity."
Mike Jamiolkowski, President and CEO of Coventor added, "Our partnership with Cadence will
allow us to offer tools that bring first-pass silicon success for IC products enabled by MEMS
technology."
